The First Private, Non-Profit University

24 Jan 2006 Στις 19 Ιανουαρίου 2006 υποβλήθηκε από τους ιδρυτές του Frederick Institute of Technology αίτηση στον Υπουργό Παιδείας και Πολιτισμού για ίδρυση και λειτουργία ιδιωτικού, μη κερδοσκοπικού Πανεπιστημίου με την επωνυμία Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick/ Frederick University, με έδρα τη Λευκωσία.

Αποστολή του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick είναι η παροχή ευκαιριών μάθησης, μέσω της διδασκαλίας και της έρευνας, στους τομείς της επιστήμης, της τεχνολογίας, των γραμμάτων και των τεχνών, καθώς και η γενικότερη προσφορά στο κοινωνικό σύνολο. Η εκπαίδευση που θα προσφέρει το Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick θα είναι υψηλού ποιοτικού επιπέδου και θα οδηγεί σε αναγνωρισμένα προσόντα, που θα εξασφαλίζουν στους αποφοίτους του επιστημονική και επαγγελματική σταδιοδρομία και ανέλιξη στην Κύπρο και στο εξωτερικό.

Στο Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick θα λειτουργήσουν αρχικά 6 Σχολές (Σχολή Μηχανικής και Εφαρμοσμένων Επιστημών, Σχολή Επιστημών της Αγωγής, Σχολή Οικονομικών Επιστημών και Διοίκησης, Σχολή Αρχιτεκτονικής, Καλών και Εφαρμοσμένων Τεχνών, Σχολή Επιστημών Υγείας), που θα περιλάβουν 15 Τμήματα, τα οποία θα προσφέρουν συνολικά 24 Προγράμματα πτυχιακού και 9 μεταπτυχιακού επιπέδου.

On 19th of January 2006 the founders of Frederick Institute of Technology submitted to the Minister of Education and Culture the application for the establishment of a private, not-for-profit university. The new university will be named Frederick University and will have Nicosia, Cyprus as its base.

The mission of Frederick University is the provision of opportunities for learning through teaching and research in the areas of Science, Technology, Literature and Art as well as a systematic service to the society at large. The education offered will be of high quality and would lead to accredited /esteemed qualifications that will ensure the graduates’ professional career and advancement both in Cyprus and abroad.

Initially, Frederick University will operate with 6 Schools (School of Engineering and Applied Science, School of Education, School of Economic Sciences and Administration, School of Architecture, Fine and Applied Arts, School of Health Sciences) that will comprise 15 Departments and will offer 24 Programs of Study at Bachelor level and 9 Programs of Study at Master’s level.
