Ιt is offered in Nicosia Campus

Language of instruction: English

General
The course is designed to provide students, upon completion of the Programme, with the necessary knowledge and skills to undertake responsibilities at high managerial level positions and to lead them to further advancement of their career.

The medium of instruction of the Programme is English. Students who are weak in English, preparatory language classes are offered to assist them to strengthen their language competencies.

The Programme consists of two compulsory parts: (i) the taught part covered in five terms carrying 80 ECTS and (ii) the dissertation carrying 10 ECTS.

Two intake periods are available: October and February. Successful candidates of the October intake can complete the taught part in July, while the February intake in January of the following year.

At the end of each term, candidates are required to submit a project and sit an examination for each course. Evaluation of students’ performance is a continuous process during the course of the Programme. Throughout the Programme, close personal tutoring and advice are offered to each individual student.

(i)Taught Part
The taught part has a course structure. For the successful completion of the course the student must normally study 18 courses in five terms earning a minimum of 80 ECTS. The courses are classified as Foundation, Core or Electives.

Foundation courses (23 ECTS): MBA 501, 502, 504, 506, 508, 509.
Foundation courses are designed to provide a preparation to students whose background is not in business or economics; up to two foundation courses may be waived to students who present satisfactory equivalent preparation in these areas.

Core courses (48 ECTS): MBA 505, 510, 511, 531, 532, 551, 561, 572, 581, 591.
Core courses are intended to provide the student with a clear understanding of strategic management theories and practices and how to cope with the problems involved in profit and non-profit organisations; globalisation is a highly concerned topic. There are 48 ECTS of core courses to be earned. All students are required to read all core courses.

Elective Courses (9 ECTS)
A number of elective courses are offered which are designed to strengthen the students’ areas of interest. Students are required to take a minimum of two such courses. Electives are chosen in consultation with the Programme Supervisor.

(ii) Dissertation
A dissertation equivalent to ten (10) ECTS is required to be submitted as partial fulfilment of the MBA degree requirements. Students normally are expected to begin working on the dissertation during the beginning of the fourth term of study.

Basic objectives of the dissertation are to provide an opportunity to the student to:
-    Examine a workplace problem or some aspect of management theory.
-    Advance his/hers skills in the areas of problem definition, data assembly, analysis (including drawing on previous findings in the area) and written presentation of conclusions.
-    Demonstrate initiative, creativity and knowledge of more than one aspect of the taught course.

For the students who are currently ‘in–career’ the emphasis of the dissertation should tend to be on providing an opportunity for a number of specific and important things:
-    Addressing a practical problem in his/hers organisation.
-    Deepening development of particular skills of benefit to his/hers future career.
-    An integration of (some of) the various facets of the instructional part of the course to produce a problem ‘solution’ or, more likely, a plan of action to resolve a pressing organisational concern.
-    Deliver a technically competent and coherent report.
-    To be able to defend his/hers arguments and conclusions and to operate his/hers solution.

Students are expected to have passed the taught part before submitting their dissertation, and upon submitting their dissertation they are required to pass an oral examination before a Committee in order to fulfil the course requirements and be declared MBA diploma holders.

English Qualification Exam (EQE)
All MBA students are expected to provide proof of their competency in the English language. Therefore they must either pass an EQE held three times a year or provide evidence of having passed an equivalent English language qualification.

Advantages for the holders of the MBA Degree:
In today's competitive and complex global environment, where more than ever before, efficiency and competence are paramount for success, the MBA qualification:
-    Enhances career and rewards advancement.
-    Opens wide and flexible career options.
-    Augments capacity adequacy and capability effectiveness in self employment pursuits.
