The Program’s purpose is to give students the opportunity to become certified instructors in the area of fitness industry. They will acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills, to successfully perform their duties and responsibilities as aerobic and fitness instructors to people of all ages, who are willing to do physical activities, as individuals or in groups. In addition they will be qualified to continue their studies for a University Degree in Physical Education.

The objectives of the programme are:

Students who attend the Aerobics and Fitness Instructor Program will have the opportunity to:

  1. Become familiar with the advantages of aerobic and fitness exercise and fulfil their movement needs for the wellness of the human body.
  2. Explain how aerobic and fitness contribute to the wellbeing of the human body with different body type and age.
  3. Develop their skills to diagnose and assess the needs of a person or a group of people for physical exercise, by using the acquired knowledge of Anatomy, Exercise Physiology and Body type measurement.
  4. Use the appropriate methods of training upon body evaluation and analysis.
  5. Prepare individuals or groups through the aerobic and fitness program in order to meet the movement needs and requirements of the trainees.
  6. Implement various programs in order to increase the strength, endurance and flexibility of the body.
  7. Set goals and objectives for each individual or group and evaluate their achievement.
  8. Offer First Aid, whenever necessary, and teach trainees to apply First Aid.
  9. Encourage the trainees to act in a way that increases their self-worth and self-esteem.
  10. Suggest healthy eating habits, according to the age and movement needs of the trainees.

2. Intended learning outcomes:

Upon completion of the program Aerobics & Fitness Instructor, students should be able:

  1. To describe the advantages of aerobic and fitness exercise in the human body.  
  2. To explain the components of aerobic and fitness exercise that contribute to the well-being of people of different body types and different ages.
  3. To identify and evaluate the movement needs and abilities of people or groups, using the acquired knowledge of Anatomy, Exercise Physiology and Body Measurement.
  4. To use methods and techniques of effective training, upon evaluating the person who’s going to start exercise.
  5. To prepare personal and group Aerobics and Fitness programs, according to the movement needs and abilities of the person or the people they train.
  6. To apply a variety of programs for endurance, strength and flexibility development.
  7. To set goals, to seek for their achievement and to evaluate the whole effort.
  8. To offer first aid to people whom they are training in case an emergency incidence occur.
  9. To behave to trainees in a way that keeps them accountable and empowers their self-esteem.
  10. To suggest to trainees ways of optimal nutrition, according to their age and their personal movement needs.
