The mission of FIT's Computing Services Department (CSD) is to provide high quality service that supports the use of computing and information technology within the Institute. It, thus, aims to enable the Institute to better achieve its objectives related to teaching and learning, research activities and administration. Frederick Institute of Technology operates libraries at both Nicosia and Limassol campuses. Students can make use of the resources at both libraries. Services include book lending, inter-library loaning, photocopiers, computers and Internet linkage. Office of Student Affairs The Office of Student Affairs is directly concerned with students. Its aim is to improve the quality of life for students. The Office is responsible for student welfare, visas, accommodation, registration, financial matters, career counselling, legal affairs, employment service and many other matters affecting students while they are at FIT. International Office The International Office deals with the specific needs of overseas students studying at FIT. Its staff members are readily available to guide and assist students on issues and difficulties that they may encounter. Counselling Service The Counselling Service is open to any student who is experiencing personal difficulties. These difficulties can relate to home or family life or to issues relating to their studies. Students will have the opportunity to discuss issues of concern to them in confidence. The service is free, confidential and staffed by qualified and compedent personnel. During the academic year, group sessions are offered in areas such as organizing time, relaxing/managing stress, money management and study skills. The Counselling Service generally operates on an appointment system and evening appointments can be arranged. Careers Advisory Service The service includes activities that help students through all stages of decision making, from choosing a suitable career or course of further study to searching for employment vacancies. A careers open day is organised every year where students have the opportunity to meet people working in specific occupations and to listen to employers talk about their vacancies and what their organisations can offer to graduates. Medical Services Medical care needs are met through government general hospitals and private clinics. All general hospitals as well as some private clinics have casualty departments for emergency cases. Insurance Charges for medical advice and any prescriptions are paid for by the patient. For this reason it is advisable for students to take accident/medical insurance which should be valid for the whole period of their studies. International students under the immigration regulations must have valid insurance cover for health and accident during their studies in Cyprus. |
