2 Years, Diploma, System of Credits
This programme of study is accredited by the Council of Educational Evaluation - Accreditation of Cyprus (SEKAP)
The objectives of the course are:
- To prepare students to become academically inclined in the field of Civil Engineering and be able to make connections with other disciplines.
- To provide students with the foundation for further studies.
- To prepare students to meet the challenges of construction industry and supervision.
- To prepare students to enter the building industry as technicians able to cope with the daily technological problems of small to medium size companies.
- To educate students on the planning, costing and management activities within organizations.
- To stimulate the students awareness of the various job requirements in the fields of engineering.
- To prepare students for employment in the private and public sectors.
On completeting the course, the students:
- Are capable to understand the problems associated with the erection of buildings and the suitability and performance standards of the services and materials in use.
- Are capable to prepare working drawings, calculations and estimates relative to buildings.
- Are capable to accept the responsibility for site planning and management.
Advantages for the holders of the Diploma in Civil Engineering:
- Possess an accredited diploma.
- Pursue direct employment in the construction industry and other civil engineering related fields.
- Continue and complete the accredited four year programme of study at FIT and acquire the BSc Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Transfer to the second or third year of studies for a BEng/BSc Degree at UK Universities.
- Transfer to the third year of studies for a BEng/BSc Degree at USA Universities.
