Computing Services Department
The mission of FIT's Computing Services Department (CSD) is to provide high quality service that supports the use of computing and information technology within the Institute. It, thus, aims to enable the Institute to better achieve its objectives related to teaching and learning, research activities and administration.
The Institute maintains several purpose built, as well as general usage computer laboratories that are equipped with the latest hardware and software. The Institute operates under a fully networked environment, connecting all different premises (Nicosia campus, Limassol Campus, Library and Research Centre. Students and faculty are provided with personal computer accounts and can access the personal data from any computer depending on the enforced permissions and policies. Students are provided with 5MB personal space (extendable upon request). In addition, the Institute maintains a continual, high-speed connection to the Internet and students are provided with email accounts that can be accessed both from within the campus as well as from outside.
With over 200 Windows, GNU/Linux and Macintosh workstations combined, the public workstation rooms provide a valuable learning resource and give an opportunity to users to carry out coursework and projects. The public workstation rooms are accessible to all FIT students from 8:00 to 20:30 daily. Appropriate printing, photocopying, scanning and CD-writing facilities are also available .
