Τεχνικός Μηχανολογικών Εγκαταστάσεων και Φυσικού Αερίου

  • Ειδικός Συγκολλητής
  • Κατασκευαστής - εγκαταστάτης

Language of Instruction: Greek

Status: New Program of Study

Aims:
According to a recent study by the Human Development Authority of Cyprus (ΑΝΑΔ) in relation to the developments related to natural gas in Cyprus, it is estimated that the following jobs will be needed in the Cyprus market:

  • 400 positions for metal welding and cutting
  • 300 positions for pipe installations
  • 300 positions for manufacturing, installation and maintenance of metal structures
  • 350 positions for installation of loading machinery and metal cabling

These positions required skill workers that are equipped with both highly technical skills but also sound theoretical foundation. Such personnel is currently lacking in Cyprus.

Therefore, the general aim of the program is to prepare students so that they can meet these demands in the job market. The program will assist students to progressively familiarize themselves with techniques of manufacturing, installation (both welding and assembly) of equipment and pipes in natural gas installations, found in production and processing units of natural gas and pipeline transportation networks of natural gas. Through the program, the students will therefore be able to construct the necessary theoretical and practical foundation, bridging thus the gap between theory and practice, so that they can perform adequately such functions and meet the responsibilities as technicians, but will give them the background to continue their academic studies for further degrees, if they so wish.

The program provides two separate directions, each focusing on the two core areas related to the Natural Gas technician requirements. Specifically, the first area, that of the specialized welder, focuses on the latest techniques and requirements of professional welding, including also material and weld testing, elements of health and safety, problem solving skills, computer use, and other. The second area, that of manufacturing and installations, focuses on manufacturing techniques and the role of a manufacturing technician, as well as the basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills for mechanical assembly of equipment. In addition, skills related to   health and safety, problem solving skills, computer use, and other are embedded in the program.
