The general objective of the Electronic and Electrical Systems Technician Study Program (2 years of study) is to professionally train students so that they can meet the needs of the current and future labor market, keeping pace with the evolving and rapid development of technology and its application to the daily needs of society. Students are taught basic principles of electrical and electronic systems, their applications and control. The program provides students with the necessary scientific, technical and professional knowledge and skills for their entry into competitive technical professions, so that they can adequately perform their duties and assume the responsibilities of an Electronic and Electrical Systems Technician.
*The program has been submitted for re-evaluation to the Higher Education Quality Assurance and Certification Body. Pending the re-evaluation, the previous Evaluation and Certification remains valid until the completion of the relevant procedure in accordance with the "Laws on the Assurance and Certification of the Quality of Higher Education and the Establishment and Operation of a Body for Related Matters of 2015 to 2021", (Article 4 (c)).
Upon completion of the Electronic and Electrical Systems Technician program, students are able to:
1. To become integrated into and adapt to the environment of electrical and electronic systems and their applications.
2. To recognize and apply the legislation governing occupational health and safety.
3. To acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge in electrical engineering required for performing the duties of an Electronics and Electrical Systems Technician.
4. To read and interpret electronic and electrical schematics and drawings.
5. To acquire knowledge for the installation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical systems in accordance with existing regulations and standards.
6. To acquire knowledge for the installation, inspection, and maintenance of renewable energy systems.
7. To apply practices of inspection, repair, maintenance, and optimization of electrical and electronic systems.
8. To construct electronic circuits through all stages, including design using specialized software, printing with an engraving machine, assembly, and testing.
9. To develop skills in system digitization and automation through the use of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and microcontrollers.
10. To acquire the knowledge and skills for installing structured cabling and telecommunications systems in building installations.
11. To gain practical experience in electrical installations through hands-on training.
The holder of the Diploma in Electronics and Electrical Systems Technician may:
- Establish their own company as a self-employed professional, operating in the field of electrical and electronic installations.
- Work during the construction stages of buildings as an electrical technician.
- Work as a technician and maintenance engineer in hotel, commercial, and industrial facilities.
- Work in the renewable energy installation industry.
- Work in a telecommunications systems company.
- Work in technical services within the public sector.
- Work as a technician in semi-governmental organizations.
- Work in the industrial sector as a technician in automation systems.
- Continue their studies at Frederick University to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Continue their studies at various universities abroad in related fields of study.
To obtain the Diploma in Electronics and Electrical Systems Technician, the completion of at least 120 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits is required, as outlined below:
