The general objective of the Nursery Diploma (2 years of study) is to provide students with the necessary knowledge and experience to become effective caregivers for infants and toddlers aged 0 to 4 years. In addition, the program enables students to understand the developmental stages of infants and toddlers, so that they can design appropriate lessons, activities and games, adapting them to the age of the children. Students will therefore be effective in designing the curriculum based on the physical and mental development of children aged 0 to 4.

The Program is evaluated and certified by the Body for Quality Assurance and Certification of Higher Education.

The Diploma in Nursery (2 years of study) provides students with the opportunity to:

1. Understand the organization and effective operation of an early childhood education facility.
2. Apply their theoretical knowledge to the care and education of infants and toddlers in early childhood education settings.
3. Develop skills in lesson planning and teaching in early childhood education settings, using a range of teaching models, metacognition and differentiation of teaching, while creating an environment that promotes learning by responding appropriately to the different needs of children.
4. Apply knowledge of the biophysical, mental, cognitive and psychosocial characteristics of children to facilitate their holistic development in all physical, cognitive, linguistic, social and emotional domains.
5. Apply pedagogical, psychological and social principles when interacting with preschool children.
6. Develop skills in the expressive arts (art, music, physical education, drama, literature) for use with preschool children.
7. Critically examine and analyze research papers on educational processes and apply findings when necessary.
8. Possess oral, written and technological communication skills for effective communication and collaboration.
9. Successfully handle routine and non-routine problems in the preschool institution.
10. Create a health education program by applying the knowledge they gain from the analysis of various health models and theories.
11. Utilize play as a pedagogical tool in the lesson.
12. Apply basic mathematical concepts and procedures to everyday activities for infants and toddlers.
13. Adopt different approaches to raising awareness of young children about environmental issues.

The holder of the Diploma in Nursery can:

• Work in daycare centers (private and public), which are controlled by the Welfare Office of the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance. (100% absorption in the labor market).

• Establish his/her own daycare center with permission from the Welfare Office.

• Continue his/her studies at Frederick University to obtain a kindergarten teacher degree.

To obtain the Nursery Diploma, it is required to complete 120 European Credit Units (ECTS), which are distributed as follows:
